About Me

“We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.” – Jawaharial Nehru

My name is Rebecca and I look something like this...
Yup, that's me, playing on a rock in Vilcabamba, Ecuador.  Yo speak-a the espanish.  (That's Spanglish for I speak Spanish...which I do, fluently.)

I have had a love affair with the educational system and keep being pulled back for more.  People always asked me if I planned to go into teaching when I decided to be a Spanish major.  Haha.  No.  Anything but teaching.

I thought when I screamed "no way" to my dean and supervisor when asked if I would pursue a Masters that it was the end of it.  Yeah, riiiight.  I ran away, but they lured me back three years later...this time for a degree in a completely different discipline to use in a school setting (or medical, to be fair...)

I have finally finished my time in the education sphere and am putting my debt-laden degree to use to work in school districts.  No, that's obviously not where the money is, but it comes with a nice schedule.  Summer break, oooh yeah.

Having basically a 180 day work schedule gives me a smidgen of time to indulge in activities that interest me, such as traveling.  (As you'll soon know or have already figured out, I'm obsessed with Ecuador, where I studied abroad for a year...and went back for 4 summers...)

See?  Another picture (or two) of me in Ecuador....

Anyways, backing up the rabbit trail, travel to anywhere is fun, be it domestic or international.  Eventually I want to see most of the world. I also enjoy many different activities, such as reading, writing, drawing, cooking, baking (mmm...chocolate...), gardening, and now, blogging.  Feel free to follow this new adventure, and leaving comments would make you full of the Awesome.
